BATS!
I took a few really cool shots of some bats outside our front door last weekend. They swoop down catching bugs and then like to hang out on the banana tree in our front yard.

A Grenadian-American Thanksgiving
Although Grenada celebrates its Thanksgiving in October, we decided to celebrate American Thanksgiving on the traditional fourth Thursday in November with a turkey and all the usual trimmings.
There were no pilgrims or indians, but we had three students (2 med, 1 vet) and their amazing wives...

Pumpkin pies ready to bake...
A little island mimosa action for the hard-cooking ladies
An example of the frustration that comes with cooking on this island...
the oven was set for 25 degrees less than necessary
and pies were in for 10 minutes less than they should have been
Sheridan's Chocolate Oat Bars...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
The turkey is stuffed and getting injected with all kinds of goodness!
Into the oven it goes!
Turkey bag = no basting and extra moist turkey!
Cooked to perfection!
The dinner table set for six
The spread of amazing food!
Clockwise from top: stuffing, "crack bread", mashed potatoes, pineapple-peach-cranberry sauce,
green bean cassarole and of course turkey!
(not pictured: gravy, pumpkin pie and chocolate oat bars)
Hard cookin ladies! (Sheridan, Sherry and me)
Hungry, hungry students! (CW, Matean and Monty)

First Anniversary, Second Honeymoon - Carriacou
To celebrate our first wedding anniversary, CW and I took a trip to Grenada's sister island Carriacou. We traveled via ferry to stay three days and two nights at the Carriacou Grand View Hotel.
In St. George's waiting for the Osprey Ferry

A church in Hillsborough
Somebody had lobster for a beach cooked dinner
Coke in tall glass bottles
Enjoying Ann's Place
My lunch was lambie (conch), rice and vegetables, callaloo (like spinach), potato salad with fried plantains.
CW had the same but with pork
Day two began with a swing on the beach
Video clip of seaside swinging
And of course I climbed a tree
Taking in the beautiful scenery
Now what? Lets go to Paradise Beach!

Ready for our Anniversary dinner at Bogles Round House, very fine dining
CW lounging in a barrel chair at Bogles after our amazing dinner.
I had the lobster! He had the red snapper and we had bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers.
Outside of our hotel
Pelicans
Collecting seashells
Thats our hotel, the Grand View, up on the hill
In the distance is Grenada's third sister island, Petite Martinique
Heading back to Grenada on the ferry
Back on the pier in Carriacou
Our ferry got about 1/4 of the way home and had engine trouble and had to turn around.
The larger ferry came to take us home
Just in time to sail under the Caribbean sunset
CW is not ready to go back to school after our vacation
